TriCoLink was incorporated on June 15, 2020 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tri-County Electric Cooperative. The Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) broadband network will deliver symmetrical gigabit internet capabilities – among the fastest and most robust in the nation – along with high-quality phone services. Additionally, it will enable enhancements and smart grid capabilities to the electrical infrastructure such as improved power outage response times, better load balancing, more efficient electricity delivery, and others. Project build-out will be 3 phases over a 3-year timeframe. At the conclusion of the project:
-
All Tri-County Electric Cooperative members will have access to the services
-
Will encompass 1,700 miles of fiber across parts of 6 counties (Orangeburg, Calhoun, Richland, Lexington, Sumter, and Kershaw)
-
$50 million investment
-
The members located within phase1 should have access to fiber services before 2021
